The steering mechanism

THE GENERAL DATA

The steering hydraulic booster reduces the effort demanded for turn a steering wheel by means of use of energy of pressure of a liquid. The hydraulic booster contains the piston with segment shaft. For adjustment of pressure of a liquid the adjusting valve serves.
Pressure of a working liquid is created by the pump resulted in rotation by the engine of the car. The hydraulic pump has built in safety and перепускной valves. The safety valve does not suppose increase of pressure of a liquid above established, перепускной the valve перепускает surpluses of a liquid on plums.
The tank contains a liquid necessary for work of the hydraulic booster. In a tank there is a filter of clearing of a liquid.

At performance of any works with the hydraulic booster it is necessary to mean the following:
  – If necessary the car can be lifted and established on supports
  – Car fastening should be reliable
  – If necessary act in film one or both wheels
  – Before removal of wheels it is necessary to mark their position concerning naves

At undocking of hoses and pipelines the liquid follows. Substitute capacity for gathering of a following liquid.

At assemblage шланговых connections and pipelines watch that hoses were not bent and were not braided. Watch also that pipelines and especially hoses did not concern places with a heat and rotating details.

Collars, linings and similar details should be established always the new.

After system assemblage fill in a liquid remove from system air (Section 11).

Apply only the liquids recommended by firm Opel.

After assemblage start the engine and check up system on tightness. Leaks are always appreciable in the wake of drops on the earth under the car.

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION OF THE STEERING MECHANISM

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Turn on накидные nuts and disconnect pressure head and drain hoses in the places shown on an illustration.
2. Accept corresponding actions for gathering of a following liquid.

The prevention
Now the system does not contain a liquid. In no event it is impossible to start the engine now.
3. Disconnect from the steering mechanism сошку as it is described above.
4. Turn on клеммный a fastening bolt карданного the hinge.
5. Mark mutual position of the hinge and a shaft of a worm of the steering mechanism, as shown.
6. Turn away a nut and bolts of fastening of the steering mechanism from a longeron of a body and remove the mechanism. The arrangement of bolts is shown on an illustration.

Installation

The steering mechanism in sequence, by return to removal is established. Thus it is necessary to mean the following:

At assemblage of a shaft and карданного the hinge combine them according to available marks. The coupling bolt enters into a groove on a shaft. If any details were replaced, it is necessary to establish a steering drive and a steering wheel in average position. The kardannyj hinge should move slightly on a shaft of the steering mechanism, sensitive details of the mechanism otherwise can be damaged. The coupling bolt is tightened by the moment of 25 Nanometers.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Tighten bolts of fastening of the mechanism the moment of 50 Nanometers.
2. Wrap накидные nuts of hydrowires and tighten their moment of 45 Nanometers. The inhaling should be carried out cautiously since connection has a small carving.
3. Establish steering сошку and tighten a nut of its fastening by the moment of 220 Nanometers.
4. Fill in in system a liquid and remove air.

REPAIR OF THE STEERING MECHANISM

The steering mechanism is subject to repair, however this work here is not described. Experience shows that the specified work is better for carrying out in a repair truck, or to replace the steering mechanism.
