Removal of air from brake system


To delete air from brake system it is necessary, if it was opened in any point or air has got to system otherwise.
Before air removal it is necessary to wipe from a dirt and extraneous particles of the location of unions for removal of air and a jellied mouth. If air leaves from all system, it is necessary to begin with a point, the most remote from a tank. If one wheel cylinder or a support was disconnected only, it is enough to remove air from a contour to which posesses the specified element.
In repair trucks air from brake system leaves the special adaptation under pressure. Application of this device here is not described. Here the well-known way consisting in отворачивании manually of the union of removal of air is described.

1. Remove a protective cap from the corresponding union of removal of air and put on it a transparent hose.
2. Other end of a hose lower in the capacity filled with a quantity of a brake liquid.
3. Ask the assistant to press some times a brake pedal, having pressed it to a floor.
4. Turn away the union of removal of air on a half-turn during the moment when the pedal is close to a floor. The brake liquid will follow on a transparent hose in a vessel.
5. As soon as the assistant will tell that the pedal is pressed to a floor, close the union and slowly release a pedal.
6. Check up and if necessary add a liquid in a tank.
7. Repeat the procedure described above until the liquid following in capacity, will not contain air vials.
8. The same repeat on other unions in the specified sequence. It is necessary to watch closely liquid level in a tank. Its decrease below certain level can lead засасыванию air in system that will demand its repeated removal.

Some words about a brake liquid. It is necessary to apply the brake liquid recommended by firm Opel. Never apply a liquid which long time stood not closed. The brake liquid sucks in a moisture.
The brake liquid contains some harmful substances which can harm to a skin covering of the person. At hit of a brake liquid on a skin immediately wash out this place. If the liquid has scattered in an eye, it is necessary to address immediately to the doctor. The brake liquid has destroying influence on paint and varnish coverings.

At the car of the previous series, i.e. To the middle of 1995 of release, it is necessary to change a brake liquid once a year or each 15 000 km of run depending on intensity of operation. New models of the car with disk brakes of back wheels demand replacement of a brake liquid once in 2 years. However at these cars liquid level in a tank should be checked each 15 000 km of run.


For check of tightness of brake system it is necessary for keeping under pressure within 10 minutes
As deduction of a pedal of a brake during specified time represents enough laborious work, there is a special adaptation for pedal pressing.

It is inserted between a pedal of a brake and a seat frame, as is shown in иллюстр. If after specified time the adaptation appears still clamped it specifies in pressure presence in system. If pressure falls, the adaptation also will fall. In this case it is necessary to search for a leak in the system which sign are stains of a brake liquid.
